Dr. Steve Perry at the STAND UP event in Sacramento, CA
So I'm on my way to IKEA, minding my business and listening the NPR...like I do. Dr. Steve Perry is the guest and this brotha has SERIOUS stuff about EDUCATION on his mind and his rhetoric is soundin about right. Two things that he said caught my attention. The first was about Teacher's salaries (they make plenty) and the second was how President Obama is catering to the Teachers Union and not focused enough (or at all) on educating young minds. ALL COMMENTS WERE BACKED BY SOUND ARGUMENT on Dr. Perry's part. Then NPR announces that Dr. Perry is in Sacramento and speaking at 5pm with a book signing to follow. So I check out the venue early and made plans to attend. This is what I thought after meeting Dr. Perry. He was funny and Engaging. He is honest about education (almost brutally but in a very polite, IN YO' FACE kind of way) and he was INCREDIBLY HUMBLE. Go figure cause to many black men come off as angry instead of passionate. He seems well educated (both Street and Book) and overall he was a nice guy. If you ever get the chance to hear him speak...Listen for 10 seconds and see what you think. He'll take it from there...I PROMISE!
